Orioles Fall, 7-4, to Morre, Mets
|
Due in large part to second baseman Jared Morre, the New York Mets sunk the Baltimore Orioles, 7-4. Morre was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The winner was Mitchell Bratt, who threw 96 pitches over 7 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits. With the win, New York upped its record to 77-65.
New York took a 4-1 lead on Tony Ellington's 32nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Ellington hit in the top of the seventh, left Baltimore pitcher Steve Riley visibly frustrated.
"Chalk one up for the good guys," said Ellington. "I'm sure our fans enjoyed that win."
