Mets Rally Late to Nip Orioles
|
The New York Mets picked up a win at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, knocking off the Baltimore Orioles, 4-3, in 10 innings. On the mound for New York was left-hander Juan Betancourt. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. New York reliever Josh Alger picked up the win, raising his record to 9-7. Dave O'Shields was tagged with the loss. The Mets sit in 4th place in the National League East Division with a record of 71-69.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Chris Schmidt? The 24-year old center fielder Schmidt stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put New York up, 4-3. For the game, he was 3 for 5, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Schmidt told a New York Times reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
