New York had no answer for Atlanta Braves hurler Manny Vargas, who overwhelmed Yankees hitters as the Braves coasted to victory, 11-0. In 5.2 innings, Vargas surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Picking up the save was Kevin Klein. He's now 2 for 3 in save chances.

Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Termarr Johnson to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Braves ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"Things didn't bounce our way," said New York skipper Logan Crenshaw.
