The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Washington Nationals, 7-3, in American League action at Nationals Park. Anthony Silva pulled his weight. The 12-year veteran went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Dave O'Shields picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 3-0. Devin Richard, who finished 3rd in the NL in ERA with 2.77 last year, was tagged with the loss.
The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Silva hit a 2-run single off Devin Richard. It propelled the Orioles into the lead, 5-3.
"We won," Silva told assembled media after the game. "I guess that's all that really matters."
The American League East Division-leading Orioles have a record of 86-53.
