Cardinals Lose, 5-2
|
Ron Lyle was a major factor in the 5-2 Milwaukee win over St. Louis. The Brewers third baseman was 2-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Milwaukee pitcher Alex Vasquez got the win, upping his record to 10-3. Brad Collom got the loss. With the win over St. Louis, the Brewers improved to 59-79.
Lyle had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a full count slider from Brad Collom, he banged a 3-run home run to right, giving the Brewers a 5-2 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Lyle.
Said losing manager Shawn Sturgess: "Obviously, we wished for a better outcome."
