On Road, Orioles Top Yankees, 10-2
|
Baltimore and New York took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Baltimore Orioles used an offensive barrage to beat the New York Yankees, 10-2, at Yankee Stadium. Tony Sierra led the way, going 2-for-4 for Baltimore. Baltimore reliever Jeff Matteo picked up the win to move to 3-0. Jim Brankley suffered the loss.
Jimmy Winter, who leads the AL in bases on balls with 127, helped out the Baltimore cause in the top of the second inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the left fielder drew 2 walks in 5 trips to the plate.
"Not my idea of a good time," New York manager Logan Crenshaw said, when asked afterward about the game.
The win for the Orioles raised their record to 85-53.
