New York picked up a win at Citi Field, bumping off the Cincinnati Reds, 7-2. Pitcher Mekonnen Owiti was a major reason the Mets emerged victorious. New York has run its win streak to 5 straight.

Jose Pacheco had a big 2-run home run for the Mets in the bottom of the first inning. With New York leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a slider from 13-year veteran Edward Cabrera and punished it. The result was his 20th home run of the season, which put the Mets on top, 4-0.

"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Owiti. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
