Nationals Roll Over Stars, 10-2
|
The Washington Nationals thumped the Nashville Stars, 10-2, at Stars Yard. Alfredo Muro was a big reason his team got the win. Muro went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Chris Buentello, the winning pitcher, improved to 14-5. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. The first-place Nationals, at 88-46, lead the National League East Division by 5 games.
With Washington leading 7-2 in the top of the ninth, Muro came up to bat against Nashville pitcher Mike McCullough. Muro hit a fastball to left for a 3-run home run. His 24th home run of the season put the Nationals on top, 10-2.
"That was not our best effort," said Nashville skipper David Nashville.
