Kansas City Sends Baltimore Packing with 6-2 Loss
|
The Kansas City Royals downed the Baltimore Orioles, 6-2. The hitting star was catcher Rene Lastres. Lastres was 2-3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Royals. Chris Andrews picked up the win, lifting his record to 11-9 on the season. He struck out 7 and walked 2 in 6 innings, while yielding 2 runs. By defeating Baltimore, the 5th-place Royals improved to 63-69.
Lastres contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Kansas City in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Lastres took a circle change from Caden Dana and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Royals to leap in front, 3-2.
"No time for posing," said Lastres. "The next game will be here before you know it."
