Giants Drop Reds, 2-1
In a low-scoring game between San Francisco and Cincinnati, pitcher Hugo Villareal was excellent. The San Francisco left-hander helped his team knock off the Reds, 2-1. Bobby Dahn notched his 32nd save of the season. Their 71-60 record puts the Giants second in the National League West Division.

Victor Alderete drove in one run for San Francisco. The 25-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Ronnie Blackston. It was his 10th RBI of the season.

"I had everything working," said Villareal.
