Stars Throttle Nationals, 8-1
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Nashville Stars and Washington Nationals.
The Washington Nationals had their hands full with Nashville Stars starter Chris Scott, who frustrated Washington hitters while leading Nashville to a comfortable, 8-1 win. Scott, the winner, moves to 10-9. He threw 5.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 4 walks.
Nashville catcher Jose Alvarez contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a slider to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 26th hit of the season and put the Stars ahead, 1-0.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Alvarez.
Washington has now lost 4 straight.
