Reds Chop Down Brewers, 4-3
|
The Cincinnati Reds did just enough to sneak past the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-3, at Great American Ball Park. Cincinnati pitcher Mike Mackin, in particular, had a standout performance. Getting the save was Michael Hobbs, his 14th. Cincinnati is now 65-57.
Izzy Alcaraz had a big solo home run for the Reds in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Cincinnati leading 3-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from 35-year old right-handed pitcher Taj Bradley and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Reds on top, 4-0.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Cincinnati manager Cincy Manager.
