On Road, Los Angeles Drops San Francisco, 5-2
|
The exploits of first baseman Doug Hoover helped the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the San Francisco Giants, 5-2. Hoover was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Joe Pfleghaar snagged the win in relief. He goes to 4-6 on the season. Cristopher Cruz suffered the loss. Los Angeles is now 59-57, San Francisco 59-57.
The Dodgers had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the eighth. The score was 5-2, Los Angeles, with no one out. San Francisco, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Kevin Branham dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 fastball, he struck out.
