Pitcher Josh Mason was sensational for the Seattle Mariners in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Houston Astros. Mason earned the win. The American League West Division-leading Mariners are 71-44.

Jamie Alexander had a big run-scoring double for the Mariners in the bottom of the first inning. With Seattle leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from Kevin Jones, who finished 5th in the AL in ERA with 3.30 in 2031, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mariners ahead, 2-0.

"We'll enjoy this ride as long as it lasts," said Mariners manager Austin D.
