Royals Fall Short, 6-5, at San Francisco
|
Though he had a terrific game, Tony Gudino could not prevent his team, the Kansas City Royals, from absorbing a loss. San Francisco won the game, 6-5. Gudino went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Steve Acevedo earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. Picking up his 1st save was 31-year old left-handed pitcher Bobby Nordman.
The Giants got a big hit from shortstop Rikelvin De Castro. In the bottom of the sixth, De Castro smacked a 2-run double off Kansas City pitcher Colt Cranford. It was his 8th double of the season. Suddenly, the Giants were ahead, 6-5.
"The bar for us is not a particular opponent, it's ourselves," said San Francisco manager Giants GM.
The slumping Royals have dropped 7 in a row.
