The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the New York Mets, 6-5. Catcher Robert Jimenez deserved a large share of the credit. Jimenez went 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Phillies. Ruben Peterson was called on to finish, recording his 21st save. The 4th-place Mets have lost 4 straight games.

With Philadelphia trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Jimenez hit a curveball from Mekonnen Owiti for a grand slam home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Phillies ahead, 5-2.

"We're in a little bit of a dry spell," said New York manager Mets Manager.
