Astros Lose, 3-1, at Globe Life Field
|
The Texas Rangers rode a solid performance from 29-year-old starting pitcher Greg Boyle to a win, beating the Houston Astros, 3-1, at Globe Life Field. Boyle, now 8-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Chris Simington notched his 23rd save of the season.
Jamel Sykes had a big solo home run for the Rangers in the bottom of the third inning. With Texas leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 30-year old right-handed pitcher Josh Armstrong and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Rangers on top, 2-0.
"Nice win for us," said Sykes. "Now we'll go after the next one."
The current losing streak for Houston has reached 4 games.
