Mariners Suffer 5-3 Road Loss
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Kansas City Royals and Seattle Mariners.
The Seattle Mariners could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Josh Mason into a win. Instead, the Kansas City Royals prevailed, 5-3. Mason threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Gabe Hoffman, the winning pitcher, is now 3-2. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 4 hits, while fanning 3 and walking 3.
The Royals got a big at-bat from center fielder Jeff Capps. For the game, Capps was 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 16th double of the season gave Kansas City a 4-2 lead.
Kansas City manager Shawn Sturgess commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
With the win, Kansas City pushed its record to 48-45.
