Rockies Handed 3-1 Loss by St. Louis
|
The St. Louis Cardinals earned a close win over the Colorado Rockies, thanks in part to Robby Rosado. The St. Louis right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the NL in quality starts with 12, played a key role in the 3-1 victory. Picking up the save was Jeff Haworth, his 31st. The Rockies, at 38-53, have lost 4 straight games.
St. Louis catcher Gene Elmer contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball to left-center field for a 2-run single. It was his 67th hit of the season and put the Cardinals ahead, 2-0.
"Watch and learn," said Elmer. "This is what good pitching looks like."
