Astros Earn 3-1 Home Win
|
Starting pitcher Irving Carter gave the Houston Astros a rock-solid effort. The Boynton Beach, Florida native helped his team defeat the Minnesota Twins, 3-1, at Minute Maid Park. Carter picked up the win for Houston, going 7 innings. He gave up 1 run on 5 hits. He now sports a record of 3-3. Picking up his 12th save was 30-year old right-handed pitcher Roman Folwell.
Edwin Saucedo hit a 2-run home run off Jose Grateron in the bottom of the fifth, which put the Astros ahead, 2-0. In addition to the homer, Saucedo had 1 double, while going 2 for 5.
"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Carter.
The third-place Astros lifted their record to 46-44.
