Dodgers Win, 5-1, at Kansas City
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers got a marvelous performance from pitcher Chris Buentello. The left-hander kept the Kansas City offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 5-1 Los Angeles victory at Kauffman Stadium. Buentello yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 7. His record improves to 10-3. The Dodgers improved their record to 52-37 with the win over Kansas City.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Nelson Armendariz? The 24-year old shortstop Armendariz stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Los Angeles up, 3-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Armendariz told the Los Angeles Bulletin.
