Toronto Ruins Terrific Game by Mattmiller
|
The Philadelphia Phillies withstood an impressive performance by Toronto first baseman Caleb Mattmiller to defeat the Blue Jays, 8-7, at Citizens Bank Park. Mattmiller went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. With this game in the books, Philadelphia is 40-47, Toronto 34-54.
Rod Gonzalez, who finished 2nd in the NL in stolen bases with 32 in 2031, helped out the Philadelphia cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a bases-clearing double. For the game, the pinch hitter went 1 for 1 with a double, while adding 3 RBI.
"We're just going to try to build off this win," said Gonzalez.
