Tampa Bay Gets 5-1 Win
|
Tampa Bay pitcher Tommy Woods had a large part in his team beating the Kansas City Royals, 5-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. The Rays have now won 7 straight.
Tampa Bay used a clutch at-bat from Quadir Bell to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Rays ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Good win," said Woods. "Maybe some of the whiners in the clubhouse will pipe down for a little while now."
