The Texas Rangers took Los Angeles pitcher Jose Castorena's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. The final score had Texas getting past the Angels, 6-5. Castorena went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 6. Chris Simington, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 18th save. The win puts the Rangers at 43-39, while the Angels drop to 31-51.

Texas used the timely hitting of Jon Hampson to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rangers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We ground out the win," said Hampson. "That's all that matters."
