Chicago Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-1
The Chicago Cubs have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading New York Mets, winning, 5-3, at Wrigley Field. Cubs right-hander Jim Fontana threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Cubs to 3-1 in the best-of-7 Championship Series.

With one out in the bottom of the fourth, Brad Carroll put Chicago in front, 3-0, with a 2-run single. The Cubs went on to win the ballgame.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Carroll. "And not try to do too much."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
