The New York Mets moved to within one game of the Championship Series, downing the St. Louis Cardinals on the road at Busch Stadium by a score of 7-2. Mets right-hander Chad Evans had a strong outing. He threw 6.0 innings allowing 1 run. The win gives the Mets a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.

New York won the game in part because of Ramon Benitez. The left fielder ripped a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Mets ahead, 2-1. For the game, Benitez had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"The rain was definitely not preferable," Evans said. "It worked out fine I guess, but we'll be happy if we see the sun next time."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Busch Stadium in St. Louis.
