The New York Mets got past the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 6-4 in the crucial first game of the WildCard at Citi Field. New York first baseman Kevin Howard went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2, to lead the charge. With a 1-0 lead, the Mets will have two chances to close out the Dodgers.

New York took a 6-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning, when Jack Reichert hit a clutch 2-run home run to bring Mets fans to their feet.

"In this profession, you've got to put the good and the bad behind you quickly," Los Angeles skipper Cody Wells said.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Citi Field in New York.
