Hogeda Blasts Orioles, Red Sox Take Game 1, 17-13
The Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 17-13, in Game 1 of the Division Series. A big contributor was designated hitter Willie Hogeda, who went 2-5 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 7 runs and scored once. The win moves Boston into a 1-0 lead in the series.

Brooklyn, New York-born Danny Clark came through in the clutch. In the top of the seventh, with the bases loaded and the Red Sox trailing 8-7, he hit a 2-run single to left-center to put Boston on top.

"When I'm in the lineup, I always feel like we're going to win the game," said Hogeda.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in Baltimore.
