Orioles Trip Mets, 5-4, in Extra Innings
|
Baltimore and New York duked it out and the Orioles came out victorious.
Baltimore beat New York at Citi Field, eking out a 5-4 win in 10 innings. The win was due in large part to center fielder Tony Manzo. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs. Reliever Pat Guilford picked up the win. His record improves to 2-2. Tony Lamar took the loss.
Manzo had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a 1-0 curveball from Tony Lamar, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Orioles a 5-4 lead. It was the 28th home run of the year for Manzo.
"Winning never gets dull," said Manzo.
With the win, Baltimore pushed its record to 43-29.
