Loggers Deal Cardinals 5-4 Loss
|
St. Louis first baseman Danny Ortega had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Ortega belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice, even as Portland beat the Cardinals, 5-4. Eitan Katan closed out the game, earning his 15th save. With the win, the Loggers improved to 28-44.
Portland used the timely hitting of T.J. Strickley to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Loggers on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said St. Louis manager Shawn Sturgess.
