|
The New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-0, at Citizens Bank Park. New York first baseman Kevin Howard had an outstanding performance. He went 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. New York starter Manny Arias was credited with the win after throwing 88 pitches over 5 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. With the win, the Mets hiked their record to 39-29.
In the top of the sixth, New York second baseman Jared Morre had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Morre stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 2-0, New York. For the game, he was 2-4 with 2 singles.
"Things didn't bounce our way," said Philadelphia skipper Archie Phillies.
