Orioles Earn 8-5 Win Against Yankees
|
The Baltimore Orioles used the hitting of designated hitter Gene Esterberg to subdue the New York Yankees, 8-5, in 13 innings. For the game, Esterberg was 3-5 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs. The first-place Orioles now have a record of 39-28.
The defining moment came in the bottom of the 13th for Baltimore. That's when Tony Manzo hit a 3-run home run off 25-year old left-handed pitcher Dave Lodi to win the game. The home crowd went wild.
"A lot to like, just frustrated that we came up short," said New York manager Logan Crenshaw.
