Giants Score Late, Top Astros, 5-3
|
Houston got a terrific performance from pitcher Francisco Morales, but it wasn't enough to beat the San Francisco Giants. San Francisco won the Minute Maid Park contest, 5-3. Morales threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Angel Arroyo got credit for the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 1.2 innings. Eric Irvin earned save number 8 this season.
Kevin Made drove in one run for San Francisco. The 34-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tony Villegas. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
Made attributed the win to "everyone pulling their weight."
With the win, San Francisco upped its record to 34-24.
