Schultz slugs 2 home runs to Ignite Red Sox Offense
The Boston Red Sox trumped the Philadelphia Phillies, 9-8, at Citizens Bank Park. Boston second baseman Rob Schultz was terrific. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Boston reliever Cesar Ortigoza picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Robby Salazar absorbed the loss. Chaz Lee, who is a two-time All-Star, earned the save for Boston.

Boston used the clutch hitting of Erick Carrillo to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Red Sox the lead, 9-8. For the game, Carrillo had 2 singles and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Carrillo. "You've got to get results."

With the win, the Red Sox have a record of 35-24.
