New York starter Mitchell Bratt kept the St. Louis offense from doing much damage. The left-hander leaned on his curveball in leading the Mets to a 3-0 win. The winner was Bratt. He threw 7.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Andy Lawson. Picking up the save was Chaz Lee, his 3rd.

New York used the timely hitting of Tony Ellington to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Mets on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Ellington.

New York raised its record to 29-26 with the win.
