In a tightly-contested game between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Minnesota Twins, pitcher Chris Kersten was outstanding. The Tampa Bay right-hander, who finished 5th in the AL in wins with 15 last year, propelled his team's 2-1 win. Mike Patterson collected his 6th save. The victory gives Tampa Bay a record of 31-22.
The Rays got a big at-bat from center fielder Sam Aim. For the game, Aim went 2-4 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 6th double of the season gave Tampa Bay a 2-1 lead.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Aim told the Tampa Bay Citizen.
