The Kansas City Royals downed the Houston Astros, 6-1, at Kauffman Stadium. Stellar pitching by Maddux Bruns had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 4th in the AL with a 11.2 K/9 rate, handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Bruns. He threw 5.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Phil Hunt. The Royals have now won 5 straight.

Tony Gudino helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 2-0, Royals.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Bruns.
