Twins Edge Mariners, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Minnesota Twins and the Seattle Mariners, 28-year old left-handed pitcher Omar Alcala was the difference-maker. The Minnesota left-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. The winning pitcher was Alcala, now 3-4. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 5 and fanning 5. Brady House got the save, the 11th for him this season.
Jacopo Consalvi aided the Minnesota cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.
"We were in it," said Seattle manager Austin D. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The 5th-place Twins now have a win-loss record of 23-26.
