Reds Drop Contest, 6-3, to Philadelphia
|
The Philadelphia Phillies knocked off the Cincinnati Reds, 6-3, in National League action at Great American Ball Park. Philadelphia pitcher and Santiago, Dominican Republic, native Junior Santos had an outstanding performance. Santos yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 2-4. Philadelphia, at 18-25, occupies 6th place in the National League East Division.
Philadelphia used a well-timed hit by Jose Chinea to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Phillies ahead, 2-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Chinea.
