Loggers Absorb 5-1 Home Loss
|
The San Francisco Giants got a good effort from starter Ricky Hutton in defeating the Portland Loggers at Columbia Sportswear Stadium. The final score was 5-1. Hutton got the win, improving to 4-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 3 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. San Francisco is second in the National League West Division with a record of 26-13.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Ramon Avilar to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Giants ahead, 4-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.
"I pretty much put my pitches where I wanted to," said Hutton.
