Mets Earn 5-2 Home Win
|
New York Mets starter Chris Hughes pitched his team past the Tampa Bay Rays, 5-2. With the win, New York upped its record to 20-18.
Ramon Benitez dealt the Rays a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases loaded and New York leading 1-0, Benitez, who led the AL in home runs with 60 last year, hit a 0-1 changeup for a 2-run single.
Said losing manager Tampa Manager: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
