Eakins Sizzles -- Smokes Manatees for 5 Hits Friday, August 25th, 2023 All game long, Clearwater's Rick Eakins was rattling the walls at Ed Smith Stadium and banging out base hits against the Coral Springs Manatees. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Threshers had a 27-1 victory. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 18-year-old second baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this." Rick Eakins singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, struck out in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
