Espinal Slams 5 Hits for Oakland (AZL) Sunday, August 11th, 2019 Speaking with reporters after a dominating hitting performance, Juan Espinal said his club's tilt with the Las Vegas (AZL) Knights "felt almost like batting practice." The 19-year-old shortstop went a remarkable 5-for-8 at the plate. "I saw the ball well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted," he recalled later. However, his sensational day wasn't enough for the Oakland (AZL) Athletics, who were topped by the Knights, 6-4. "It's a good lesson for him, I guess," Athletics manager Jeff Neudeck said. "Sometimes Juan is going to lose. But I would rather him go 5-for-8 and lose than go 0-for-8 and lose." Juan Espinal hit an RBI single in the 1st, grounded out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, tripled in the 7th, struck out in the 9th, grounded out in the 12th, singled in the 14th, doubled in the 16th and flied out in the 18th.
