Huge Year for Red Wings Zarate, Nabs Pitcher of the Year

Rosario Zarate of the Red Wings humbled hitters all season long and today celebrated as he hauled in the New York-Penn League Pitcher of the Year trophy, the coveted Pitcher of the Year.

The Hamilton hurler held opposing hitters to a .251 batting average while putting up a 6-1 record and a 1.62 earned run average. He started 14 games, pitched 83.1 innings and struck out 64.

He received 34 first place votes out of a possible 36. Chase Yamada of the West Virginia Black Bears finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Jago Beiza of the West Virginia Black Bears finished third.
