Barclay Torches Owls for 5 Hits
Friday, July 8th , 2061
Even as a kid, Raymond Barclay said his coaches told him the key to hitting was making contact, and letting everything else flow from there. At Medford Grounds, Barclay showed how well he learned that lesson.
The 22-year-old catcher had 5 hits in 6 at-bats for the Medford Flying Tigers, helping his team knock off the Roseburg Owls by a score of 14-0.
"They always said, just keep your eye on the ball, don't overswing, make contact and you never know what will happen," he said. "That's all I did."
Raymond Barclay singled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Jack Evans in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.
Barclay is hitting at a .315 mark this season. His stats show 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 7 runs scored. He has played 14 games for the Flying Tigers.
