Northwest League Selects Best Performer Monday, August 28th , 2051 Kennewick fans have something to crow about today as Kennewick second baseman Franklin Martínez nabbed the Northwest League Player of the Week Award for his performance over the last seven days. "I know there are times when it's hard to lay off pitches. Everyone goes through stretches when he's too eager to put the ball in play. You know, though, I feel like this past week I was able to get in the right frame of mind and just let things come naturally," said Martínez. He posted a .467 average (7-for-15) this past week with 4 home runs, 5 RBIs, and 7 runs scored. This season Martínez has delivered 41 hits in 165 at-bats for a .248 average with 9 home runs. He is getting on base at a .371 clip and his totals also include 25 RBIs and 30 runs scored. This year Martínez has played in 54 games. |
