League Suspends Nieto and Toland for Fisticuffs Friday, September 9th , 2050 Yesterday at Owls Stadium Rainer Nieto and Garridan Toland got into each other's space and then into each other's face. They began to grapple and fell to the ground. That's when it boiled over into a full-fledged bench-clearing tussle between the Roseburg Owls and Oil City Oilers. Reason finally prevailed as the umpires restored order. After much discussion, only the two major combatants were ejected from the game. Today the league office notified the ballclubs that Nieto will have to sit out 3 while Toland would be given a 6-game suspension for their roles in the brawl. Nieto on the season is batting .132 with no home runs. His totals include 1 RBIs and 2 runs scored. He has played in 17 games. This year Toland has a 3-5 record with a 5.88 ERA. |
