Hit Streak for Woods Reaches 20
Saturday, August 27th , 2061
Stockton's 24-year-old second baseman Dwaine Woods is on a fine run at the plate. His consecutive-game hitting streak has reached 20 games, doing so by going 1-for-4 against the Pittsburg Diamonds.
The streak has brought a degree of attention that Woods has often tried to deflect, talking about teammates' accomplishments rather than his own. After the Ports wrapped up their 7-4 triumph over Pittsburg at Banner Island Ballpark today, he downplayed his part in the victory.
"I got 1 hit," he said. "My contributions were no more important than those from everyone else who played today." Dwaine Woods struck out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Bryson Armstrong in the 3rd, struck out in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.
Woods is hitting at a .290 mark this season. His stats show 18 home runs, 65 RBIs and 66 runs scored. He has played 106 games for the Ports.
