Super Swinger -- Cain Slams 6 Hits Tuesday, May 28th , 2052 Fans at Grainger Stadium got to see not only a home-team victory today, but also one of the most impressive feats of hitting of the season. The San Bernardino Stampede outplayed the Ventura Gulls en route to a 11-10 win, but the standout was center fielder Matt Cain. Cain netted 6 hits in 7 at-bats and finished with a dynamite game line. "Hey, we tried everything we could think of to get him out," Gulls manager Chris Footer said in postgame comments. "We threw everything but the kitchen sink against him and he hit it. Maybe we should've thrown the sink, too." Matt Cain singled in the 2nd, tripled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 9th, doubled in the 10th and struck out in the 12th.
