Ege Raps Jacksonville for 5 Hits
Wednesday, July 31st, 2019
After his 5-hit effort at Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville was tarnished by Yonkers's 6-5 loss to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, center fielder Josh Ege told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day."

"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win."

He didn't get the win, but the 21-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Jumbo Shrimp.

"His swing is getting there," said Dark Knights skipper Jahiem Journet after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Josh did that to perfection today and we wasted it."

Josh Ege doubled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th and doubled in the 9th.

So far this year Ege has 9 home runs and a .248 batting average.
